Historical Significance: This regulation represented Indonesia's commitment to the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI), establishing a multi-stakeholder framework for reconciling and publishing government and company payments in the oil, gas, mining, and coal sectors. It was a significant step toward transparency and good governance in natural resource management.
Revocation Impact: The dissolution of the Tim Transparansi Industri Ekstraktif in 2020 marked the end of Indonesia's formal EITI implementation structure. The functions were transferred to the COVID-19 Handling and National Economic Recovery Committee, though the broader transparency obligations under UU 14/2008 (Public Information Openness) remain in effect.
